The Pennsylvania Center for Dental Excellence has integrated the use of CEREC technology to offer same-day dental restorations to our patients. We are committed to providing the most efficient and effective innovations available, and the CEREC is no exception. The patented CEREC CAD/CAM technology designs and crafts high quality, metal-free dental restorations in a single patient visit.
CAD/CAM is an acronym that stands for computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing. CAD/CAM technology is used to help the PCDE fabricate precise shapes and sizes for dental restorations including crowns and bridges and veneers. This technology provides patients with durable, esthetic, well-fitted single and multiple tooth restorations in a more efficient manner. The first step in using CAD/CAM technology is tooth preparation. Next, a digital impression is taken that sends the prepared tooth’s exact dimensions into a computer. Afterwards, the computer software creates a virtual restoration replacement part for the missing areas of the tooth. The software then sends the virtual restoration data to the milling machine, where the replacement part is carved out of a solid block of lithium disilicate (eMax). The restoration is stained and glazed and then and cemented or bonded in place. The best thing is that the entire procedure only takes 1 visit and usually can be completed in as little as two hours. You don’t have to come back for a second appointment or leave with a temporary that may come out .
You may be a candidate for CEREC if you:
In general, a CEREC crown appointment can take less than two hours and requires no additional appointments. The 3D imaging technology allows CEREC dentist,Dr. Tau to design a precise virtual restoration without taking impressions. This allows us to ensure restorations look great, fit perfectly, and can last for years.
